Friends,
It is with GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT that we share with you that we will be postponing CMS 2021.
It breaks our heart, but it is the most fiscally responsible decision that Bruce and I can make at this time.
For those who are not aware, Washington State has implemented a statewide mask mandate for all indoor public events. The challenge we face is that there is no foreseeable ‘end’ to the mandate. This makes it incredibly difficult to effectively market an event that may or may not be imposed with certain restrictions that our venue must follow, which, for many, will make it an event not worth attending.
The Christian Musician Summit is an event whose success relies on the number of people who attend. If the number of people who attend does not support the budget, all of the losses will be felt by two people… myself and Bruce. We are not underwritten by a larger entity, so if the event falls short, Bruce and I will have to pay for it out of our own pockets. We simply cannot afford that risk at this time.
We are extremely sorry, but this is simply out of our control.
For those who have already registered for CMS 2020 or CMS 2021, your registration is GOOD for CMS 2022.
We plan to host the event at the same location in Tacoma, Washington on the first weekend of November 2022. (Nov 4-5)
Our desire is to produce an event that is worthy of the CMS brand… we’ve always prided ourselves in offering a wide variety of workshops, general sessions and live music experiences that improve skill and inspire talent for God’s glory. We feel that the current restrictions imposed by our State will disable us from providing that opportunity for you. We want your investment to mean something, so we feel that we must wait until 2022. Our hope is that by then, we will be able to offer a CMS event that will equip the entire team.
Again, if you have registered for CMS 2020 or CMS 2021, your registration is good for 2022.
We are not able to offer refunds, as we still have monthly expenses to keep ourselves afloat. Please know that neither Bruce nor I have taken any of these funds for our personal expenses.
We envy your prayers, not only for the CMS, but for the greater community of believers as we navigate these uncertain times.
Blessings,
Matt & Bruce
